Cables & Accessories

  • Belden makes some of the best cables available for electronics application. While not made specifically for audio or home theatre, some of their cables have long been regarded as excellent interconnect and speaker cables for the do-it-yourselfer. Here is Belden's own article which summarizes how some of the cables in their catalogue may be used in audio and home theatre applications.

Articles on constructing your own speaker and interconnect cables:

  • Jon Risch's classic articles on the subject using Belden 89259 coax and Belden 89207 twisted-pair cable.
  • A user's thoughtful comments on the experience of building cables based on Jon Risch's designs.
  • Chris VenHaus' articles on the subject using Belden 1585A Cat 5 wire.

We are now using Belden 1694A exclusively for our DIY interconnects. This cable is readily available and is the latest Video Brilliance RG6 cable from Belden. Those who wish to go further and use an RG11 cable would do well to look at Belden's 7731 cable.
